"Prof.N.Sanajaoba,former Dean of Law Faculty in Gauhati University,who was one of the participants in the conference[sic. Centenary HAP international conference] told the Assam Tribune that the speakers from the region stated that the Government of India has an obligation to allow the people to exercise their right to self-determination since it is bound by its ratification of of the International Covenant of 1966,[sic.ICCPR] Article 1.." He said," India should relinquish her" internal colonies" by democratic process".
