Recommendation excerpt on NE region,p.18:
"...[T]he political and administrative units[sic.states] in the region at present should be accorded 'autonomy' which,under any circumstances,should not be less than that of the special constitutional status,accorded to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution.It is true that the region should have enjoyed the same status as Jammu and Kashmir simultaneously,since the historical reasons are incidentally similar and also that the denial of such a status has unnecessarily provoked the people of the region to adopt different methods of protest,not excluding extreme steps to express popular grievances."
